Maternal nutrition and health is precious for healthy birth outcomes. Optimum food both in quality and quantity required to meet the need of pregnancy. Poor maternal nutrition and lifestyle has risk factors for serious foetal complications and neonatal outcomes, including intrauterine growth restriction, congenital abnormalities, stillbirth, low birth weight (LBW), and neonatal death. In India mother mortality rate (MMR) is 97 (SRS, 2018-2020), neonatal mortality rate and infant mortality rate is still high that is 24.9 and 35, 2 respectively. The aim of the study is to know the challenges and nutritional situation during Pregnancy in Bihar with respect to India. This study is based on secondary data that was conducted on pregnant women of 15-49 years on various parameters. This is analysis of nutritional condition of pregnant women of Bihar in respect to India on the basis of NFHS V and NFHS IV data. In Bihar 63.1per cent of pregnant women were anaemic in respect to India that is 52.2 per cent. Even 11 per cent adolescent girls (15-19 years) were already mother or pregnant at time of survey in Bihar with respect to 6.8 per cent in India. Only one fourth of total pregnant women were getting four antenatal check-up and only 9 per cent women were consuming 180 tablets of IFA. (NFHS-V,2019-2021). Various programme and implementation is going to be implemented to the community but still the result is not satisfactory due to the gap in level of awareness, implementation strategy, lack of resources and lack in access of services etc.
