Abstract:

A field experiment entitled “Effect of growth promoter on morpho-physiological, biochemical parameters and essential oil yield of mentha (Mentha arvensis L.)” The field experiment was carried out at Department of Plant Physiology, Agriculture Biochemistry and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Instructional Herbal Garden, IGKV, Raipur (C.G.) in Mentha arvensis L. during the Rabi season of 2020-21. Randomized block design (RBD) was used to conduct the experiment with three replications. There was 10 treatments T1 (Control, Water Spray), T2 (IAA @ 50 ppm), T3 (IAA @ 70 ppm), T4 (IAA @ 90 ppm), T5 (GA3 @ 50 ppm), T6 (GA3 @ 70 ppm), T7 (GA3 @ 90 ppm), T8 (BAP @ 50 ppm), T9 (BAP @ 70 ppm), T10 (BAP @ 90 ppm).

Experimental findings revealed that Herbage yield ranged from 18.07- 20.92 ton ha-1. The highest herbage yield was recorded in T8 (20.92 tonha-1). Herbage yield in T5 (20.88 tonha-1) was statistically at par with T8and the minimum herbage yield was observed in T1 (18.07 ton ha-1). Essential oil (%) ranged from 0.64-0.76%. The highest essential oil (%) was obtained in T6 (0.76%) which was at par with T9 (0.73%), and the lowest essential oil (%) was observed in T1 (0.64%).
